Adults Age 50+ and Influenza
Influenza causes approximately 36,000 deaths and more than 200,000 hospitalizations in the U.S. each year. Many Americans, who are more than 50 years of age, are unaware of the benefits of annual influenza vaccination, putting themselves and their loved ones at risk for influenza and its serious complications. Persons among this population often serve as caregivers responsible for keeping older parents and young grandchildren healthy year-round. Annual influenza vaccination is a simple but critical measure that helps maintain ongoing health and work productivity, as well as the ability to enjoy vacation and leisure time, and to provide care for other family members.
